Correct disposal of pharmaceuticals
Pharmaceuticals play an extremetly important role in the present life quality standards and thus they are not expected to be banned based on their environmental impact.
The resistance to conventional treatment methods applied in Waste Water Treatment Plants is the main driving force for the entrance of pharmaceuticals into the environment. However, all of us can significantly contribute to decrease the amount of pharmaceuticals reaching the environment.
Do not flush pharmaceuticals down the sink or toilet
Do not discard pharmaceuticals into organic garbage
Use the available local or national programs that allow you to take the unused drugs to collecting spots for proper disposal
e.g. pharmacies
Incorrect disposal of non-used pharmaceuticals can account for up 50% of the total input of these compounds into the environment. Eliminating source of contamination only depends on us!
